We wanted to provide a quick update to everyone following February 10th’s Park County Commission meeting. Thank you to everyone who showed up in person, joined online, wrote comments, or called our commissioners.
It’s clear that this issue resonates deeply with our community. Thank you for raising your concerns in such a civil and respectful manner. All of your voices brought such unique and thoughtful perspectives for the commissioners to consider—this is what democracy looks like.
The Latest Developments
The Park County Commission tabled the discussion of the letter of support to the State Land Board this morning. They acknowledged that they need to hold a public meeting in Emigrant focused solely on the proposed gravel pit on Section 22.
The Commissioners need to take our concerns, questions and thoughts on this proposal into further consideration, and will do so at a future meeting. While they committed to more public discussion, no exact date has been set at this time.
Keep an eye out for future communications from us; we will continue to keep you informed as soon as we learn more. Thank you again for your support and engagement on this issue. We must continue to band together to protect our public lands in Park County from shortsighted industrial development.
You Can Still Take Action
