It's the last day to show your support to PCEC through #GiveAHoot!

Today is the last day to support PCEC through Give A Hoot! Have you given yet?? If so, thank you! If not, there’s still time! We still have a bit to go to reach our goals of $85,000 and 200 individual donations. Remember, every gift during July is partially matched by the Park County Community Foundation.

Do you Give A Hoot about growing an equitable and resilient community forest?

Over the month of July, we’ve highlighted many of our programs, and today, we’re featuring a new but growing program: Livingston Loves Trees.

In Livingston, we love our trees. Nearly 4,000 trees grace Livingston's boulevards and public spaces. Trees are essential to our community character, improve air quality, provide cooling shade in the summertime, habitat for wildlife, stormwater mitigation, shelter from our infamous wind and so, so much more.

But the changing climate makes maintaining a healthy community forest more challenging than ever, and ash trees — about half of Livingston's community trees — are threatened by the emerald ash borer, invasive beetles that have already killed millions of ash trees across the country.

In 2021, PCEC launched Livingston Loves Trees: a tree planting initiative that aims to improve the equity, resilience and engagement of all people in planning and caring for our local community trees. LLT aims to grow our community forest by 1,000 beautiful, diverse species of trees.

With the help of our Tree Team: community volunteers, AmeriCorps NCCC crews, local nurseries and tree adopters (residents that have agreed to water and care for the young trees), in the first two years LLT has already grown our community forest by 165 new trees. We also monitor the health of the new LLT trees, and are happy to report a 99% survival rate from 2022 to 2023.

Our ability to provide and plant free trees for free depends on the generous support of community members just like you and now is a great time to “plant it forward.”

Today is the last day of PCCF's community fundraiser so please consider contributing to PCEC's Tree Fund through Give a Hoot! Your gift will be partially matched -- so it's a great time to contribute to the program and give a gift that will last for generations!
