Petition signers: Join us for a hike on proposed gravel pit site this Sunday (July 30)

I’m writing today to everyone who has signed PCEC’s petition opposing a gravel pit on State Trust Land Section 22 north of Emigrant.

It’s been more than a year since the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation held a meeting in Paradise Valley about the proposed pit, and we still don’t know much more about their plans than we did then. Over that time, more than 500 people have signed the petition raising concerns about the proposal’s impact on wildlife and impacts on public health.

Whether you signed the petition a year ago or this morning, thank you! We are working to proactively stop this proposal before it gains steam, and we appreciate your support. This project is still very much a reality and communities across Montana have been blindsided by DNRC working to approve gravel pits behind closed doors.

If you’re interested in learning more about the section of land where the proposal is taking place, two of our local conservation leaders on the issue will be hosting a hike this Sunday, July 30, at 9:30 a.m.

Greg Reed and Jeff Purcell will lead the hike. The hike will meet at the turnoff of North Glastonbury Road and Old Yellowstone Trail. It will be a hot day, so bring plenty of water.

Want to learn more? Respond to this email and we’ll add you to our email list where we announce weekly meetings and committee meetings.
