YNP's Bison Management Plan Draft EIS Public Meetings Announced

Earlier this month, Yellowstone National Park released a draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for a Bison Management Plan.

This plan provides a much-needed update, and will help guide how bison are managed for years to come. We are happy to see this opportunity for the Park Service to improve bison management in the Park, and for the opportunity to let the public weigh in on the proposal, which is especially critical for communities like ours that reside just outside of the Park.

You can learn more about the plan here!

In the coming weeks, we'll let you know more about our analysis of the DEIS, as well as give you some more information about public outreach events. Keep your eye out!

The deadline to submit comments is Sept. 25, 2023.

In the meantime, Yellowstone National Park will host two virtual public meetings this month. Please attend these meetings to learn more about the plan and planning process, and for the chance to ask NPS staff questions.

Yellowstone said it will incorporate public input and release the final EIS next year.
