Why showing up matters
We all love this place. We believe that when we engage thoughtfully with our elected officials, City staff, and neighbors, we help build a stronger, more resilient community. We are an organization committed to engaging with one another to ensure Livingston remains livable and affordable for everyone, we grow in a way that protects our natural resources and tonight is a great opportunity to participate in that process.
Over the past few years, PCEC and our members have consistently shown up for focus groups, workshops, and meetings to help shape this vision. Now that these documents are finally up for discussion, we encourage you to attend, learn more, and contribute your thoughtful, respectful comments.
Why these documents matter
While regulatory documents can seem dry, they are the essential roadmap for our community. They guide City departments in their daily work and ensure that the vision set forth in our Growth Policy becomes a reality.
Regarding the Parks Master Plan specifically: It is important to remember that cities need adopted plans to operate effectively. An approved plan is often a prerequisite to qualify for state and federal grants. Without access to these grants, improvements and maintenance must be funded entirely by local tax dollars. Finalizing these plans helps the City secure outside funding to maintain our shared spaces and prioritize what is most important to serve the entire community. They don’t have an easy job, and welcome our participation to guide their decisions.
A call for respectful engagement
We support the public process, good governance, and respectful, thoughtful comments. Recent events have underscored that the safety and well-being of all community members is paramount, and this starts with how we show up.
Regardless of where you stand on the specific agenda items, we ask that our membership leads by example.
Let us engage with the Commission and City staff with the utmost respect for the difficult roles they hold. We want to support the people willing to serve our city, ensuring that our public discourse remains safe, constructive, and rooted in our shared love for Livingston.
We look forward to seeing you there to participate in our democratic process.
Thanks again to everyone who has showed up during all the planning processes, emailed comments or participated in public meetings.
